Fabio Sasso: How to create magic crystal ball
This was the first time I attempted to do a photo manipulation that didn't involve people (namely, me), reflections, or really any photos other than that of the Andromeda Galaxy. I have this weird obsession with creating spheres/bubbles that I discovered after this project. I've always been fond of shiny things, like birds are, but the sphere thing was new. I think I like them so much because they are one of the most difficult things for me to make, so they are a challenge, and they just look damn cool.
The reason they are especially difficult for me is because I use Photoshop Elements, which doesn't have all the cool features CS6 has, especially with regards to creating orbs and reflections. That doesn't mean it's not possible in Elements, it's just more difficult. Alas, the tutorial I decided to use was utilizing CS6 and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to replicate some of the instructions.
This was my finished design, and I'm happy with it overall. I'm especially proud, as it was one of my first true designs after my numerous creations involving mirrors. I like the addition of the galaxy and it looks pretty glassy to me, so I'd say it's a success :)
I've included two behind the scenes images below. There isn't much with regard to behind the scenes with this one, but it is what it is.
